Major strategic breakthrough : "PROJECT HIMANAK"

World's highest motorable road was constructed by BRO in Ladhakh region of J&K .
The road being in close proximity of INDO-CHINA border will be of great strategic significane .The road passes through Umlinga Top at a height of 19,300 ft.
Close to Hanle,the strategic road connects chisumk village and the demchok village located 230 kms from leh , close to the indo -china border .
The construction of such a road where temperature is in -10 to -20 and dips further down to -40 degree during winter is a remarkable feat by the BRO. The construction was prone to challenges like the high altitude,harsh weather,lack of oxygen which is generally just 50% less than the normal oxygen.
Getting supplies and machinery on top were also difficult and the machine operators had to come down every 10minutes to get oxygen, overcoming such hinderances the BRO made it possible

I have always believed that the real heroes of the nation are the soldiers of the country who risk their lives for our security. They are the ones who ensure that the people of the country sleep peacefully in their homes at night while they have to be awake and vigilant at the borders in hail or storm and in extreme weather conditions.
